During the Great War, our region served as a dependable rear area for the country. We are a robust rehabilitation hub for wounded soldiers and a refuge for nearly 100,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Despite numerous challenges, our region's economy continues to develop. Rich in natural resources, including forests, we have established a thriving furniture cluster that unites woodworking companies and furniture manufacturers. Additionally, we are a major centre for legal amber mining.
Our international motorways provide us with significant logistical advantages. We also boast a rich cultural and historical heritage. Presidents of Ukraine take their oath of office on the Peresopnytsia Gospel, and the Ostroh Academy, founded in the 16th century, is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Eastern Europe.
